Reliable High-Current Connections: Lumberg Expands Series 45 with Matching Tab Contacts
Schalksmühle, November 2026. Reliably transmitting high currents in confined spaces while keeping assembly cost-effective: Lumberg’s Series 45 high-current contacts provide compact, robust connection solutions for this purpose. New additions to the portfolio include matching tab contacts, types 459000, 459010, 459020 and 459120. Engineers can now source socket contacts and their matching counterparts from a single supplier – for flexible power connections in power electronics, industrial applications and automotive engineering.
Depending on the contact version, PCB connection and thermal conditions, the Series 45 high-current socket contacts enable current transmission of up to 200 A. Low contact resistance and optimized contact geometries help limit electrical losses and self-heating. Their compact design saves space in electronic systems with high power density.
Pluggable connections between stacked printed circuit boards are particularly attractive: The socket contact is mounted on one PCB using surface-mount technology (SMT) or through-hole technology (THT) and mates with the tab contact on the opposing assembly. This can eliminate complex wiring or additional intermediate connectors. Depending on the socket type, the tab contacts can be inserted from above, below or the side, providing design flexibility for modular, vertical and horizontal power distribution concepts.
With the new 0.8 mm THT tab contacts, Lumberg now adds the matching counterparts to its own product range. A total of six versions in two widths, 4.6 and 6.3 mm, with overall lengths ranging from 12.6 to 18 mm, as well as an angled 20 mm version, expand the options for different installation requirements. For engineering and purchasing teams, this coordinated offering simplifies the selection and procurement of mating contacts.
